In the rare event of a mechanical issue in the desert, a replacement jeep is dispatched from Wadi Rum village (maximum 45-minute response time).

Best months: March through May and September through November, when desert temperatures are 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit and sandboarding conditions are ideal. June through August is hot (85-105 degrees Fahrenheit) but the open-air jeep provides natural ventilation and early timing avoids peak heat. December through February is mild (55-70 degrees Fahrenheit) and offers the clearest desert light for photography. Book at least 7 days in advance. For large cruise groups (20+), book 21 days in advance.
Full payment required at booking. Cancellations more than 14 days before receive 90% refund (10% processing fee). Cancellations 7-14 days before receive 50% refund. Cancellations less than 7 days are non-refundable but transferable to another passenger on the same cruise. If your ship changes port or cancels the Aqaba stop, full credit valid 24 months issued. If your ship arrives late and the excursion cannot proceed, 75% refund issued and a shortened alternative offered. No-shows charged in full. Travel insurance strongly recommended.

Yes. All jeep drivers are licensed by the Wadi Rum Nature Reserve and have years of desert driving experience. The vehicles are maintained weekly and equipped with first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and satellite phones. Desert driving is slow and careful (average speed 15-25 mph). Seat belts are available and recommended. Pregnant women past 20 weeks should consult their physician before the jeep ride due to bumpiness.
Basic restroom facilities (squat toilets) are available at the Bedouin camp and at the Wadi Rum Visitor Center. The Premium and Luxury packages include camps with upgraded restroom facilities. We recommend using the restroom at the Visitor Center before entering the desert. Wet wipes and hand sanitizer are provided in the vehicle.
Light, breathable, long-sleeved clothing is ideal: it protects from sun and blowing sand while keeping you cool. Avoid dark colors (they absorb heat) and avoid shorts (they expose skin to sun and sand). A wide-brim hat with neck protection is essential. Sunglasses are mandatory: the desert glare is intense. Closed-toe shoes are recommended: the sand can reach 110-120 degrees Fahrenheit in summer and will burn bare feet.
The optional camel ride uses camels from a licensed, family-run operation that has worked with tourists for decades. The camels are well-cared for, rested between rides, and never overloaded.
